Hey there, fellow dreamers! Today, I want to share with you the incredible journey of turning my lifelong dream into reality - the grand opening of Eclectic Whimsy. My name is Darby Boyd Wiles, and let me tell you, the road to opening my online boutique has been a wild ride filled with laughter, excitement, and a whole lot of coffee!

Months of Preparation: A Rollercoaster of Emotions

Let me start by saying that preparing for the grand opening of Eclectic Whimsy was no walk in the park. It took months of blood, sweat, and tears to get everything just right. Maintaining a strong vision for the collection's aesthetic by sourcing the perfect pieces - it was a whirlwind of excitement, stress, and time.

Building the Dream Collection: A Labor of Love

One of the most exciting parts of the process was developing the concept and brand for Eclectic Whimsy. I spent countless hours over three states sourcing hidden gems to find unique pieces that would truly capture the essence of my aesthetic as a decorator.  I went to design school many years ago, but my path took a detour in the fine arts for 20 years.  I never lost my dream of being able to help people create beautiful and meaningful spaces and homes.  It was a labor of love, and let me tell you, my passion for curating the perfect collection knows no bounds!!

From Storage Unit to Website: The Evolution of Eclectic Whimsy

After sourcing the collection (which, by the way, took a whopping 6 months and is still ongoing), the next step was developing an inventory storing system. I transformed a dusty old storage unit into a magical treasure trove filled with all the quirky, whimsical items that would soon grace the pages of my online boutique. And let's not forget about building the website - a whole new adventure in itself!

Soft Launch to Grand Opening: A Journey of Growth

Before the big day arrives, I decided to do a soft launch to test the waters and learn from the experience. My soft open was March of this year.  It was a nerve-wracking but invaluable step that helped me fine-tune my store and prepare for the grand opening. And let me tell you, when the day finally comes, and I cut the figurative ribbon to officially open Eclectic Whimsy, it will be a moment I will never forget.
