This beautiful vintage Tonalá pottery bowl is hand-painted in the style of Ken Edwards and features two graceful green birds facing one another, surrounded by delicate flowers, leaves, and a butterfly. The color palette — rich greens accented with soft coppery brown — is classic Tonalá folk art from Jalisco, Mexico.
Created from burnished earthenware (barro bruñido), this piece captures the charm and craftsmanship of mid-century Mexican ceramics, celebrated for their organic forms and intricate, hand-drawn nature motifs. The artistry and glaze have been well preserved, and the bowl retains its original luster.
This is an unsigned example consistent with workshop production inspired by the Ken Edwards / El Palomar tradition. It makes a striking addition to any folk-art, bohemian, or mid-century ceramic collection.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. There are two small exterior chips and a few long hairline fractures visible on the outside of the bowl — recommended for display only. Interior artwork remains vivid and intact.
