1979 Fitz & Floyd Caribbean Parrot Candle Holders — Mirrored Pair, Fitz & Floyd | 1979

Sale price$127.00

The Story

Pure tropical theater.

Created by Fitz & Floyd in 1979, this wonderfully exuberant pair of Caribbean Parrot candle holders captures everything we love about vintage decorative design: saturated color, imaginative form, and just enough whimsy to make a room unforgettable.

Each parrot is dressed in glossy emerald green plumage scattered with crisp white spots, a sunny yellow breast, ivory beak, and wonderfully dramatic scarlet-red eyes. But it is the silhouette that makes this pair exceptional. The parrots' sweeping green tails rise dramatically behind them, unfurling into oversized flower-shaped candle cups.

Designed as a mirrored pair, the two birds face in opposite directions when displayed together, creating a beautifully balanced composition.

These are playful, but they are far more than novelty ceramics. Styled on a lacquered console, bar cart, dining table, mantel, or collected bookshelf, they become fabulous little sculptural objects—perfect for the color, exuberance, and theatricality of a Palm Beach Regency or maximalist interior.

The Object

A matched pair of vintage Fitz & Floyd Caribbean Parrot figural ceramic candle holders, both clearly marked © FF 1979 on their undersides.

The design cleverly incorporates function into sculpture: the parrots' elaborate green plumage sweeps upward before opening into botanical, flower-form candle cups.

The deeply modeled feathers, sculptural wings, spotted bodies, expressive faces, and glossy saturated glaze give these small pieces remarkable presence from every angle.

And because both retain their dated Fitz & Floyd marks, we can confidently place the pair in 1979 rather than relying on a general vintage attribution.

Condition Report

Excellent vintage condition. The glossy glazed surfaces remain beautifully vibrant with strong color and wonderful decorative presence. No obvious chips, cracks, or repairs are visible in the photographs provided. Light age-appropriate wear and discoloration are present around the unglazed foot rims, consistent with nearly five decades of display and handling.

Please review all photographs closely, as they are considered part of the condition description.

Styling

We would give these center stage.

Place the pair facing outward on a glossy console or bar cabinet, flank a stack of vintage cocktail books, or bring them to the dining table with colorful taper candles. Their emerald-and-citron palette is especially beautiful alongside brass, bamboo, rattan, lacquer, burl wood, and crisp white.

They are wonderfully at home in Palm Beach Regency, Hollywood Regency, tropical maximalist, grandmillennial, and eclectic interiors—a small pair with an enormous amount of personality.
