Vintage Danish Angel Candle Holders Set of 3 – D.R. Danmark Hand Painted Ceramic Scandinavian Christmas Decor

A wonderfully whimsical trio of vintage Danish angels, these petite hand-painted ceramic candleholders bring all the charm of Scandinavian folk art to the holiday table.

Each angel is individually decorated with golden yellow hair, rosy cheeks, peacefully closed eyes and tiny sculpted hands. Their white bell-shaped dresses are finished in three coordinating colorways—deep blue, forest green and warm red—with matching painted wings and distinctive border designs.

The opening at the top of each angel is designed to hold a slim taper or Christmas candle, transforming these tiny figures into an especially charming holiday display when illuminated.

Turn them over and you'll find perhaps their most intriguing detail: each piece is individually hand-marked “D.R. DANMARK” on the underside. The exposed earthenware foot, hand-painted decoration and slight variations among the three give the set the character associated with Danish studio and folk pottery.

We have not conclusively identified the Danish artist or studio represented by the initials D.R., so we have intentionally limited the attribution to the markings actually present on the pieces.

Based on their materials, construction and Scandinavian design vocabulary, we believe the set likely dates to approximately the 1960s–1970s, although an exact production date has not been documented.
