This exquisite antique English claret jug features a diamond-point pressed glass body paired with ornate gilt metal mounts. The hinged lid, spout, and handle showcase fine late Victorian craftsmanship with intricate beaded and foliate detailing. The sculptural handle, formed in a mythological motif reminiscent of lion-headed or serpent-inspired designs, is characteristic of English gilt-metal mounts produced in Sheffield or Birmingham during the late 19th century.
The glass body tapers elegantly, catching the light through its deeply pressed diamond pattern. The lid opens smoothly on its original hinge, revealing a clean, polished interior. The base displays a starburst cut typical of fine English crystal from the 1880s to 1890s.
The piece is in excellent antique condition with only one small surface scratch noted on the glass. The gilded metal shows light age patina appropriate for its age.
