This large and ornate antique Nippon porcelain bowl showcases the artistry of Japanese porcelain from the late Meiji to early Taishō period (1890s–1920s). Hand painted with vibrant chrysanthemums in shades of pink, lavender, and magenta, the interior dazzles with intricate raised moriage slip and lavish gold gilt scrolling. The scalloped rim is richly gilded, giving the piece a luxurious and dramatic presence.
The exterior features delicate hand-painted florals on a soft white ground, while the interior panels display lush bouquets framed with textured green and gold overlays. Marked on the underside with the classic blue maple leaf and “Hand Painted,” authenticating its Nippon origin.
A rare 12-inch example, this bowl makes a striking centerpiece or statement display for any Eclectic Whimsy interior.
Condition:
Good antique condition. There is one hairline crack on the underside of the bowl, but it is not deep and does not affect structural stability. Colors and gilding remain vivid and rich. Please see photos for details.
