ANTIQUE MIKADO JAPAN HAND-PAINTED YELLOW ROSE PORCELAIN BOWL

Delicate yellow roses, trailing green foliage, shimmering gold scrollwork, and a deeply scalloped rim give this antique Japanese porcelain bowl an especially romantic presence.

Marked “Hand Painted Mikado, Japan,” the bowl was likely produced for the export market during the 1920s or 1930s. The floral decoration appears individually applied by hand, with dimensional roses, fine white enamel outlining, soft green leaves, and ornate gold accents arranged around the interior.

At 10 inches in diameter, this is a substantial decorative and serving piece. Display it in a china cabinet, style it on a dining-room sideboard, or use it to add a graceful floral layer to a Cottagecore, Grandmillennial, Victorian-inspired, or traditional interior.

The age-related imperfections contribute to its authentic antique character. Tiny glaze pinholes and firing irregularities are visible in the center and appear to have occurred during manufacture rather than through later damage.

CONDITION

Good antique condition with no observed chips, cracks, or repairs.

The bowl displays age-related wear to the gold decoration, particularly around portions of the scalloped rim and interior scrollwork. There are light surface scratches, scattered dark specks, minor discoloration, and numerous small glaze pinholes or firing irregularities in the center. These appear to be original manufacturing characteristics rather than later damage.
