ANTIQUE VILLEROY & BOCH MAJOLICA CAMEO PLATE – RARE PINK WITH OLIVE PORTRAIT MEDALLION, CIRCA 1880s
This beautiful antique majolica plate was made by Villeroy & Boch at the Schramberg factory in Germany in the late 19th century.
The scarce rose-pink glaze is richly decorated with ornate raised scrollwork and florals, centering a classical olive-brown portrait medallion in relief. This unusual colorway is far less common than the turquoise and bronze versions, making it especially collectible.
The underside is impressed with mold number 682 / 7, part of the documented cameo plate series.
The plate is in good antique condition, with light surface wear consistent with its age of about 150 years. A striking display piece for collectors of European ceramics and Victorian majolica.
