Vintage California Pottery Triple Leaf Relish Dish with Sculptural Roses
A wonderfully theatrical piece of vintage California-style pottery, this sculptural triple leaf divided serving dish combines exuberant form, dramatic color, and dimensional floral decoration in a way that feels unmistakably Eclectic Whimsy.
The piece is formed as three deeply molded leaf-shaped bowls arranged around a central cluster of hand-sculpted roses. Each leaf features a beautifully ruffled, undulating edge and a glossy glaze that shifts from vivid chartreuse and lime green at the center to deep emerald and teal along the rim.
At the center, dimensional roses in saturated shades of raspberry, coral, rose, amber, and warm golden orange rise above the leaves like a miniature floral sculpture. The exaggerated petals and layered construction give the piece wonderful movement and make it just as compelling as decorative art as it is functional serving ware.
Originally intended as a relish dish or divided serving tray, the three compartments are ideal for olives, nuts, candies, condiments, appetizers, or small hors d'oeuvres. It also works beautifully as a sculptural centerpiece, vanity tray, or decorative object.
The unmarked molded construction and high-gloss gradient glazing are consistent with mid-century American decorative pottery, particularly the exuberant California pottery tradition of the 1950s and 1960s. Because no factory mark or maker’s stamp is present, the piece is best described as California pottery style / attributed mid-century American pottery rather than assigned to a specific maker.
Its bold botanical form, saturated glaze, and dimensional floral center make it especially appealing for Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach Regency, Mid-Century Modern, maximalist, tropical, grandmillennial, and collected eclectic interiors.
