VINTAGE JAPANESE KNEE HUGGER CHRISTMAS ELVES – SET OF 3

A charming coordinating set of three vintage Japanese knee-hugger Christmas elves, each featuring an expressive molded face, bright red felt clothing, long bendable limbs, and whimsical pointed hats.

Dating to approximately the 1950s–1960s, these nostalgic holiday figures capture the playful spirit of mid-century Christmas décor. Their oversized painted eyes, rosy cheeks, curled seated poses, and flexible arms and legs give each elf a distinct personality.

Two elves retain small metal bells attached to their hats, while at least one carries its original “Made in Japan” cloth label. Slight variations in the collars, mittens, and trim give the group an especially collected and authentic vintage look.

Their wire-supported limbs can be gently positioned for display on a mantel, shelf, wreath, Christmas tree, staircase garland, or layered holiday vignette. When fully extended, each elf measures approximately 12 inches long.

This is a coordinating vintage group and may not have originally been sold as a matched set.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with visible age and wear consistent with decades of holiday use and storage. The felt clothing and trim show fading, discoloration, surface lint, minor marks, fraying, and general fabric wear. The collars and cream-colored trim have aged unevenly, and the hanging cords are loose and tangled in places.

Two elves retain metal bells, while one appears to be missing its bell. The painted molded faces remain colorful and expressive, with light scuffs and surface marks. Please review all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.
