Vintage Royal Copenhagen Siena Vases Pair by Ivan Weiss 963/3740

Sale price$268.00

A striking matched pair of vintage Royal Copenhagen Siena fajance vases, designed by Ivan Weiss and produced in Denmark circa the 1970s.

These sculptural oval-form vases feature a beautifully graphic botanical composition in black, deep brown, ivory, and ochre-gold, with stylized flowers and foliage layered over horizontal bands. The result is distinctly Scandinavian yet wonderfully expressive — a sophisticated blend of Danish Modern, Mid-Century Modern, and art pottery design.

Each vase is marked on the underside with the Royal Copenhagen crown and three-wave factory mark, FAJANCE, the numbers 963 / 3740, and additional hand-applied factory marks. The pair shares the same form and decoration, making them especially desirable displayed together.

Their flattened oval shape gives them a refined architectural quality and allows the decoration to read almost like a pair of small modernist paintings. Beautiful on a console, mantel, bookshelf, credenza, or styled as part of a collected ceramic display.
